A stunning icon!
Description
Sharp brancards with rounded edges, railway minute scale, blue hands and a cabochon on the crown: all the codes of the Tank Louis Cartier are here.
But is it really another Tank as we know them? Not quite ! Please see the case turning on itself to protect itself (allowing you to forget what time time it is...). Narrower and longer than a classic Tank, it looks a bit bigger on the wrist while remaining discreet (notably thanks to its thin case). This beautiful sky blue strap completes the sporty and original spirit of this not-so-classical Tank!
How to wear it
The steel case is very easy to wear in any occasion and with every outfit ! A watch that is fun to wear and look at. It is particularly suitable for everyday life, perfect for work and evening because it can be both casual and elegant. Françoise particularly likes to wear it with jeans for a casual look.
Why did Françoise choose it ?
Because the come back of this 1930s design was long overdue ! This is not a watch you will come across every day. Françoise has a special love for the Tank, it's no secret. But perhaps what she prefers even more than the Tank Louis is a Tank that you don't see on everyone's wrists. Exactly like this one ! Françoise also really likes bold colored straps, which almost become a "statement".
Finally, engraving the revolving case to make the watch even more personnel is an idea that Françoise loves !
History
The Tank watch appeared in 1917 under the name "Normale" to honor the heroes of the First World War. The name is an obvious nod to the military vehicules that inspired the design. Five years later, the Tank Louis Cartier emerged. Quite similar to the first one, the Tank Louis has a more elongated case and thinner, rounded brancards (shafts). Several generations follow one another, retaining the same identity while adapting to new watchmaking technologies such as quartz. The Tank Basculante was introduced in the 1930s, then relaunched at Cartier in the 1990s.
