“Eye of the Tiger”

Description

Piaget's reputation in watchmaking is well established.

Referred to as the “jeweler of watchmaking”, Piaget embodies creativity and reliability. An oval case? No. Round? No. Square ? Neither. The Swiss Maison once again offers a piece that is as unique with its almost elliptical gold case as it is pleasant and light to wear thanks to the thinness of its case. The tiger's eye dial offers magnificent brown and golden tones, dancing with the light. A color echoing the gold of the hands. A watch, a piece of jewelry or both?

How to wear it?

Even if Françoise admits that the extravagance of certain Piaget pieces is not always compatible with everyday wear, it is not possible to miss Piaget creations. This watch reminds us that the Maison was able to imagine simpler models, while keeping with a their signature subtle complexity.

It retains an ideal format, very present on the wrist, and an original brown leather strap reminiscent of the shades of the stone. Elements that make it easier to wear. And after all... in the 60s and 70s, Piaget precisely wanted to break the codes and innovate with its watchmaking designs: why not do the same in 2023?

This Piaget watch, which combines gold and a hard “tiger’s eye” stone, is intended to be elegant and precious but could easily be worn every day. Perfect for your evenings, a touch of originality and class on the wrist. One thing is certain: it will not go unnoticed. It's up to you to break the rules by pairing it with jeans !

Why did Françoise choose it?

It's no longer a secret: Françoise greatly appreciates the creations of Maison Piaget. Technique, savoir-faire, drawing, history, so many elements that Françoise wishes to promote. Give Piaget watches all the interest they deserve. Although she would like to be able to wear 1970s jewelry, cuffs, necklaces, etc., Françoise also likes “simpler” pieces. Despite everything, it is Piaget: the shapes and materials are therefore ambassadors of a delicate elegance tinged with a subtle extravagance.

This watch bears witness to Piaget's most creative era. It illustrates watchmaking expertise in its ultra-thin mechanical movement and mastery of materials in the choice and work of the hard stone dial. These rare dials give the model all its character. Each stone is unique and each watch is just as unique. It is for all of these reasons that we chose it.

History

Between the end of the 1950s and the end of the 1970s, Piaget style reached its peak. A highly creative period where gold, the only material used for watches from 1957, and colors harmonized. The dial becomes the main element of creation, the one towards which all eyes must be directed. Thus, the hard stone imposes itself, letting vibrate its lively palette of colors, its shades, its reflections, its personality: lapis-lazuli, jade, tiger's eye, coral, turquoise, onyx, opal, etc. A palette of bright and nuanced colors. Watches with clean lines letting the color do the talking. Jewelery watches qualified as “haute-couture creations” (Journal de Genève , April 15, 1970).
