A slightly different legend remains a legend
Description
How can we talk about Cartier without thinking of the Baignoire model? All elegance, voluptuousness and delicacy, the Cartier Baignoire alone evokes the woman and the Cartier identity. It also illustrates the technical capabilities of the Maison in creating a mechanism that fits into an oval case.
But is this really “THE” Baignoire, the one we have seen (sometimes too much)? No! This is a "double godrons" Baignoire, that is to say with 2 reliefs on its box. This subtlety is what makes this watch so interesting and rare. To stay in the pure Cartier spirit, it is powered by a mechanical movement.
Obviously, you noticed the PARIS signature on the dial and case, which adds so much charm to this watch. Finally, the gold folding clasp, an element of elegance and comfort on the wrist.
How to wear it?
In all circumstances, it will undoubtedly be the touch of elegance to your outfit. A refined, rounded watch that would be best worn with a formal outfit. However, it remains a daily watch, if you nevertheless agree to wind it every day. Françoise loves this almost intimate physical moment with a watch, some find it too restrictive to choose a mechanical watch as their daily watch.
Why did Françoise choose it?
Because the Baignoire is a watch with an emblematic shape of the House of Cartier. A watch worn by many women over the years: women with confident style, women with character, women who are remembered.
But also a lot because this double gadroon model has an undeniable twist, reinforced by its folding clasp! Rarer, also appearing finer on the wrist (because the case seems "thinned" by the relief of the 2 gadroons), more elaborate also perhaps, this Baignoire is sublime!
Parisian by birth and at heart, Françoise has a particular attraction for Cartier watches signed PARIS.
History
From Catherine Deneuve to Jeanne Moreau via Romy Schneider, the Cartier Baignoire never ceases to charm.
Although Louis Cartier had already introduced an elongated watch design in the early 1900s, the iconic model we know today was born in 1958 in the Parisian Cartier workshops. A watch with feminine and sensual lines, an innovative and creative style. A few years later, the Baignoire Allongée appeared in the London studios.
If the case made of gold gadroon has retained its rounded design, it nevertheless offers some variations over the years (as here with the double gadroon), just like the dial, sometimes decorated with Roman numerals, sometimes with Arabic numerals. An intrinsically elegant watch that stands the test of time without losing its aura.
