Diving back into the legend
Description
How can one evoke Cartier without thinking of the Cartier Baignoire? Defined by elegance, sensuality and delicacy, the Baignoire alone embodies femininity and the Cartier identity. It also reflects the Maison’s technical mastery in creating a movement that fits seamlessly within an oval case.
A fully rounded gold case, white dial, black numerals and blued steel hands, every hallmark of the Cartier Baignoire is present. This model is fitted with a burgundy lizard leather Cartier strap, lending the piece a particularly refined and precious allure, in keeping with the elegance of this iconic design. The strap is secured by an 18-carat yellow gold Cartier pin buckle.
This Cartier Baignoire is accompanied by its original invoice, its presentation box and its Cartier service pouch.
How to wear it?
In any setting, it will undoubtedly bring a touch of elegance to your look. A refined, softly rounded watch that naturally complements more formal attire. Yet it remains perfectly suited to everyday wear. The Cartier Baignoire offers gentle curves that rest delicately on the wrist.
With its timeless white dial, it can be paired with a strap in any colour, according to the seasons and occasions.
Why did Françoise choose it?
Because the Baignoire is one of Cartier’s most emblematic shaped watches, and one that Françoise finds exceptionally refined. A model worn by many women over the years, women of style, of character, and of lasting presence. A design that has gracefully transcended generations.
Like the Cartier Tank, the Baignoire is a true Cartier essential.
History
From Catherine Deneuve to Jeanne Moreau and Romy Schneider, the Cartier Baignoire has never ceased to captivate.
Although Louis Cartier had already introduced elongated watch designs in the early 1900s, the iconic model we know today was born in 1958 in the Paris workshops of Cartier. A watch with feminine, sensual lines, innovative and creative in spirit. A few years later, the elongated Baignoire appeared in the London studios.
While the gold gadrooned case has retained its rounded form, it has evolved through subtle variations over the years, as has the dial—sometimes featuring Roman numerals, sometimes Arabic numerals. An intrinsically elegant timepiece that continues to move through time without ever losing its aura.
