Diving back into the legend
Description
How could one speak of Cartier without thinking of the Baignoire? A symbol of elegance, sensuality and delicacy, the Cartier Baignoire embodies both femininity and the Maison’s identity. It also showcases Cartier’s technical mastery in creating a movement perfectly integrated into an oval case.
A fully rounded gold case, white dial, black numerals and blued hands: all the defining codes of the Cartier Baignoire are present. This model is fitted with a purple alligator leather Cartier strap, giving the Baignoire a renewed, contemporary look while preserving the elegance of this iconic piece. The yellow-gold deployant clasp not only enhances comfort on the wrist but also adds an even more precious touch.
How to wear it?
In any situation, it will undoubtedly be the elegant finishing touch to your outfit. A refined, softly rounded watch best paired with dressed-up looks, yet one that remains perfectly suited to everyday wear. The Cartier Baignoire offers rounded lines that rest delicately on the wrist.
Why did Françoise choose it?
Because the Baignoire is one of Cartier’s most emblematic shaped watches, which Françoise considers exceptionally refined. A watch worn by countless women over the years, women with distinctive style, women of character, women we remember. A model that has stood the test of time and continues to captivate generations. Like the Tank, the Baignoire is a true must-have at Cartier.
History
From Catherine Deneuve to Jeanne Moreau and Romy Schneider, the Cartier Baignoire has never ceased to charm.
Although Louis Cartier had already introduced elongated watch designs in the early 1900s, the iconic model we know today was born in 1958 in Cartier’s Parisian workshops. A watch with feminine, sensual lines and an innovative, creative spirit. A few years later, the elongated Baignoire appeared in the London studios.
While the gold godron case has retained its rounded design, it has nevertheless seen subtle variations over the years, as has the dial, sometimes adorned with Roman numerals, sometimes with Arabic numerals. An intrinsically elegant watch that has travelled through time without ever losing its aura.
