Plunging Back into Legend
Description
How can one mention Cartier without thinking of the Baignoire model? With elegance, sensuality, and delicacy, the Cartier Baignoire evokes womanhood and the Cartier identity in one. It also illustrates the Maison’s technical capabilities in creating a mechanism that fits seamlessly into an oval case
A rounded all-gold case, white dial, black indexes, and blue hands: all the codes of the Cartier Baignoire are in place. However, these codes are modernized here with a few new details. The angles of the case are slightly more pronounced. The lacquered dial has more presence than the older, "simply white" dials. And finally, rose gold! Warmer than yellow gold, but above all more subtle, it completes and perfects the revolution.
How to wear it?
In any circumstance, it will undoubtedly be the touch of elegance to your outfit. A minimalist watch that is more suitable for a dressed-up outfit. The Cartier Baignoire offers gentle rounded lines that sit delicately on the wrist. However, it remains a daily watch that can be slipped under a shirt or jacket cuff, but also proudly displayed bare-armed.
Why did Françoise choose it?
Because the Baignoire is an iconic shaped watch from Maison Cartier. A watch worn by many women over the years: women with a bold style, women of character, women to be remembered.
Françoise often favors vintage watches, but she also knows how to be won over by a more recent model. This is the case here, with this rose gold that immediately melted Françoise's heart. A complete set, with box and papers, also allows you to feel like you just walked out of Cartier Place Vendôme, for a much more reasonable price!
History
From Catherine Deneuve to Jeanne Moreau, to Romy Schneider, the Cartier Baignoire continues to charm.
Although Louis Cartier had already introduced a design of an elongated watch in the early 1900s, the iconic model we know today was born in 1958 in Cartier’s Parisian workshops. A watch with feminine and sensual lines, an innovative and creative style. A few years later, the elongated Baignoire appeared in London studios.
While the case formed of gold godrons has retained its rounded design, it has nevertheless offered some variations over the years, as has the dial, sometimes adorned with Roman numerals, sometimes Arabic numerals. An intrinsically elegant watch that transcends the years without losing its aura.
