Tame the Panther

Description

Do we still need to present the essential Cartier Panthère? Cartier has always designed form watches. The daring (or crazy?) challenge of linking a very square case with rounded edges and slender links could only be taken up by the Maison. The challenge was largely won and has been declined in solid gold, gold and steel, steel, paved, large size, small size... But we too often forget that it was also sold in a much wiser version: on a leather strap!

This is perhaps the most discreetly luxurious version of the Cartier Panthère. A solid 18-carat yellow gold case, but on red leather strap and a gold-plated Cartier pin buckle. Its refined and harmonious dial also includes a date window at 3 o'clock, confirming, with the quartz movement and the second hand, the practicality of the model.

This design is so successful that it is perfectly unisex (like the Tank or Santos from the same Maison)! The large size presented here reinforces this feeling. This 27mm watch will have a presence on the wrist, whether it is feminine or masculine!

How to wear it

While the other versions of the Panthère on a metal bracelet appear more sporty, this all-gold one on a red leather strap is dressier and more discreet. A watch that has a real presence on the wrist.

The strength of the Panthère lies in its sharp yet rounded lines that reduce the purely sporty impression. The soft edges diminish the purely sporty impression, even with its larger dimensions. The red leather strap also plays a great role in making this Panther ultimately elegant. A perfect contrast with gold.

Françoise wears it very casually, as an everyday watch. Of course, as a solid gold watch on a leather strap, we can also dress it up for a formal event !

Why did Françoise choose it?

If Françoise chose it, she's not the only one! We have seen it (and we see it again) on the wrists of many actresses, musicians and politicians. If Françoise had to choose one Cartier for her whole life, it is perhaps to a Panthère that Françoise would turn. Or maybe the Tank? Please don't make her choose! Françoise couldn't miss this all-gold-on-leather version, which is much less common.

History

The Panthère watch was launched in the festive spirit of the 1980s, when Michèle Kaouni was the Director of Creation at the Maison Cartier. It takes its name from the bracelet: both supple and streamlined, it evokes the way the feline moves, with all its roundness, elegance, and sensuality. At Cartier, the evocation of the panther through its coat is part of its identity. The spotted pattern first appeared on another ladies' wristwatch in 1914, in onyx and diamonds.

From its release, it was adopted by a large and eclectic crowd: Madonna, Keith Richards, Margaret Thatcher. Why not you?

Authentication

Every piece undergoes a two-step expert review before joining our selection.

Françoise and her team, collectors and horology enthusiasts for many years, examine it first.

Our partner watchmakers, with whom we work closely, then carry out the technical authentication.

Condition

Our photographs are true to life: taken in-house with a macro lens, they capture every detail of a piece with precision — including marks or scratches that may be less visible to the naked eye.

We never retouch a watch's condition; only the brightness of the photograph may be adjusted.

Serial numbers are removed from photographs to protect the authenticity of each piece.

Shipping

Worldwide shipping and insurance are offered for each item upon receipt of payment.

Any customs duties and local taxes, which vary depending on the country of destination, remain your responsibility.

In Paris, hand-delivery is possible by appointment, once funds have been received.

Return and refund policy

Despite photos and descriptions that we hope are as accurate as possible, we know that the relationship with a piece of jewelry, a watch, is above all physical.

That's why we offer a 14-day return period, no questions asked, with a refund within 5 days of receiving the watch.

However, the watch must be in an aesthetic and mechanical condition similar to when it was sent.
