Description

Françoise is always amazed at the variations Cartier is capable of around the same design! The Maison often plays with the shapes, colors or sizes of a model while maintaining its DNA. Here we have a new example, neither completely round nor completely square. Cartier has managed to keep the geometric aspect and the codes of the Santos, while combining a round case with an octagonal bezel.

We find the 18-carat yellow gold insert nailed to a steel case that made the Santos so successful in the 1980s. For this all-geometric model, Cartier plays on symmetry by distributing the nails at the corners of the insert.

This is a version of the Santos with an automatic movement, a second hand and a date window at 3 o'clock: practical and comfortable.

Why did Françoise choose it?

This gold and steel Cartier Santos can be worn every day. A watch that assumes a sporty look that is always elegant, since it is a Cartier. The steel bracelet and its thin case make it very comfortable to wear. Without a doubt, Françoise loves the Santos, an essential model in the Cartier repertoire. This one takes its codes with a twist. Rounded watches at Cartier are not the most common. Françoise also likes to offer watches with a slightly larger diameter, here a beautiful 33 mm which gives this Santos a real presence on the wrist and which will look just as good on a woman's wrist as on a man's.

History

Like the Tank, the Santos is one of Cartier's legendary models. It was designed in 1904 by Louis Cartier for his aviator friend Alberto Santos-Dumont. A pioneering watch, not only for aviation, but also in the history of watchmaking: it was the first men's wristwatch. In the 1980s, the range was split into the Santos Dumont, which remained faithful to the original design, and the Santos, which gained in modernity thanks to its integrated bracelet. Even today, the Cartier Santos is available in different versions and continues to enjoy undeniable success.

Authentication

Every piece undergoes a two-step expert review before joining our selection.

Françoise and her team, collectors and horology enthusiasts for many years, examine it first.

Our partner watchmakers, with whom we work closely, then carry out the technical authentication.

Condition

Our photographs are true to life: taken in-house with a macro lens, they capture every detail of a piece with precision — including marks or scratches that may be less visible to the naked eye.

We never retouch a watch's condition; only the brightness of the photograph may be adjusted.

Serial numbers are removed from photographs to protect the authenticity of each piece.

Shipping

Worldwide shipping and insurance are offered for each item upon receipt of payment.

Any customs duties and local taxes, which vary depending on the country of destination, remain your responsibility.

In Paris, hand-delivery is possible by appointment, once funds have been received.

Return and refund policy

Despite photos and descriptions that we hope are as accurate as possible, we know that the relationship with a piece of jewelry, a watch, is above all physical.

That's why we offer a 14-day return period, no questions asked, with a refund within 5 days of receiving the watch.

However, the watch must be in an aesthetic and mechanical condition similar to when it was sent.
