Changing the shape without changing the essence.

Description

Françoise is always amazed to see the variations that Cartier churns around the same design! The Maison is often in the habit of playing on the shapes, colors or sizes of a model, while keeping its DNA: here we have a new example. Cartier knew how to keep the geometric aspect and the codes of the Santos, while going from a square shape to a round one.

We find the insert nailed to a steel case that made the Santos so successful in the 1980s. For this rounded model, Cartier plays on symmetry, by distributing the nails slightly unevenly on the insert. A version perhaps more discreet thanks to the steel.

Why did Françoise choose it?

This all-steel Cartier Santos can be worn every day. A watch that always assumes an elegant sporty look, since it is a Cartier. The flexibility of the bracelet and the finesse of the case make it very pleasant to wear. Without a doubt, Françoise loves the Santos, an essential model in the Cartier repertoire. This one takes its codes with a twist. Round watches at Cartier, especially sporty ones, are not the most common. Françoise also likes to offer watches with a slightly larger diameter, here a beautiful 33 mm which gives this Santos a real presence on the wrist and which will look just as good on a woman's wrist as on a man's.

History

Like the Tank, the Santos is one of Cartier's legendary models. It was designed in 1904 by Louis Cartier for his aviator friend Alberto Santos-Dumont, launched in 1911. A pioneering watch, not only for aviation but also in the history of watchmaking: it is the first men's wristwatch. In the 1980s, the range split between the Santos Dumont, which remained faithful to the original design, and the Santos, which gained in modernity thanks to its integrated bracelet. Even today, the Cartier Santos is available in different versions, and continues to enjoy undeniable success!

Authentication

Every piece undergoes a two-step expert review before joining our selection.

Françoise and her team, collectors and horology enthusiasts for many years, examine it first.

Our partner watchmakers, with whom we work closely, then carry out the technical authentication.

Condition

Our photographs are true to life: taken in-house with a macro lens, they capture every detail of a piece with precision — including marks or scratches that may be less visible to the naked eye.

We never retouch a watch's condition; only the brightness of the photograph may be adjusted.

Serial numbers are removed from photographs to protect the authenticity of each piece.

Shipping

Worldwide shipping and insurance are offered for each item upon receipt of payment.

Any customs duties and local taxes, which vary depending on the country of destination, remain your responsibility.

In Paris, hand-delivery is possible by appointment, once funds have been received.

Return and refund policy

Despite photos and descriptions that we hope are as accurate as possible, we know that the relationship with a piece of jewelry, a watch, is above all physical.

That's why we offer a 14-day return period, no questions asked, with a refund within 5 days of receiving the watch.

However, the watch must be in an aesthetic and mechanical condition similar to when it was sent.
