Description
The Maison Cartier offers a repertoire of watchmaking creations of great richness and wonders are constantly resurfacing. This is the case of this very beautiful Cartier Sonate. It is dated 1988, accompanied by its original invoice written in Melbourne, its certificate of origin and its case. A step back in time, accentuated by the impeccable condition of the watch. As if you had just left the Cartier boutique!
This piece is a true cocktail watch. The square case in 18-carat yellow gold is set with round diamonds and sapphires; the bezel with an inverted diamond. The satin strap is elegantly linked to the case by very fine attachments: three spaced diamonds topped with a line of sapphires. In order not to overload the watch, the dial remains very refined. On a white background, the hours are indicated by "baton" indexes, except for 3, 6, 9 and 12 o'clock. The blued hands echo the strap and the sapphires, the whiteness of the dial bringing luminosity to the diamonds. A welcome contrast that maintains visual harmony on the wrist.
To perfect the model, the Cartier Sonate is equipped with a mechanical movement, serviced and guaranteed for 1 year.
Finally, a significant detail for comfort and aesthetics, this model is equipped with an 18-carat yellow gold folding clasp.
Why did Françoise choose it?
More than a watch, this Cartier is a jewel, an impression accentuated by its size. Françoise likes to show that the world of jewelry and watchmaking are intimately linked. This Cartier Sonate is the best example.
It is undeniably very elegant. A rare jewelry watch that you will not be ready to see on your friend's wrist. A watch that you will wear in the evening like a jewel but whose style can also be offbeat with jeans and a shirt. By its finesse of realization and details, this model avoids the "flashy" aspect that some watches too jewelry can have.
You only have to admire this Cartier Sonate to understand Françoise's choice. A collector's piece, all finesse and elegance. If it weren't so beautiful to look at, you might forget it on your wrist. A piece that is probably not unique but a rare piece, an absolutely superb piece, a nod to the jewelry world of the Maison Cartier.
History
It was in 1917 that the Tank watch, called Tank Normale, appeared; in honor of the heroes of the First World War, its design was inspired by the first tanks. Five years later, the Tank Louis Cartier was designed, a model very similar to the first but with a more elongated dial and thinner and rounded stretchers. Several generations followed one another, retaining the same identity codes while adapting to new watchmaking technologies such as quartz. The Sonate is an interesting variation of this legendary piece with a more square dial and case, more volume and jewelry details.
