Big icon, smaller size
Description
18k gold case, sharp brancards with rounded edges, railway minute scale, blue hands and a cabochon on the crown: all the codes of the Tank Louis Cartier are here. Immediately recognizable by its iconic design, this watch has lost none of its charm over the 100 years of its existence. It is elegant, practical and very comfortable, laying perfectly flat on the wrist, especially in this slightly smaller dimension. The white dial give limitless possibilities in terms of style and straps : dress it down with a colored fun strap, and dress it up with a classic black or brown alligator strap.
How to wear it
You'll never go wrong with a Cartier Tank Louis, regardless the size. It's clearly watch that is easy to put on and forget, but still easy on the eyes too. It is particularly suitable for everyday life, as casual as it is elegant. The classic size is perfectly unisex, this one a few millimeters smaller is perfect for those who want a little more feminine discretion on their wrist.
Why did Françoise choose it ?
In gold, in steel, size mini, medium, classic, jumbo, simple, with diamonds, whatever: Françoise will always recommend a Tank Louis. It is essential both from a historical and stylistic point of view. It is par excellence the watch that we take pleasure in transmitting, a piece that combines technique and aesthetics, functionality and elegance. The Tank was designed more than 100 years ago with such success that it remains contemporary for eternity! This is why we trust it completely.
A complete set is always a source of pride for Françoise, who considers them a poetic time capsule. What could be better than a lucky woman receiving a vintage-looking watch as a gift, but with the original box and papers!
History
The Tank watch appeared in 1917 under the name "Normale" to honor the heroes of the First World War. The name is an obvious nod to the military vehicules that inspired the design. Five years later, the Tank Louis Cartier emerged. Quite similar to the first one, the Tank Louis has a more elongated case and thinner, rounded brancards (shafts). Several generations follow one another, retaining the same identity while adapting to new watchmaking technologies such as quartz. It may be the watch seen on the most celibrities' wrist throughout the years : Jackie Kennedy, Lady Diana, Alain Delon, Catherine Deneuve, Yves Saint-Laurent, Gary Cooper, Johnny Hallyday or Sophia Coppola... Are you next?

Authentication
Authentication
Every piece undergoes a two-step expert review before joining our selection.
Françoise and her team, collectors and horology enthusiasts for many years, examine it first.
Our partner watchmakers, with whom we work closely, then carry out the technical authentication.
Condition
Condition
Our photographs are true to life: taken in-house with a macro lens, they capture every detail of a piece with precision — including marks or scratches that may be less visible to the naked eye.
We never retouch a watch's condition; only the brightness of the photograph may be adjusted.
Serial numbers are removed from photographs to protect the authenticity of each piece.
