The Tank you won't come across every day...

Description

The rounded side stretchers, "Paris" dial, railway-shaped minute scale, blue hands and a winding crown decorated with a sapphire cabochon: all the codes of the Tank are set. Is it a "standard" Tank? Admire its reversible case, and you have the answer! Immediately recognizable by its iconic design , this watch has become a collector's item that is extremely rare on the market. It is elegant, practical, and very comfortable on the wrist.

It will first of all please those who like fairly flat watches, thus harmonizing with the lines of the hand. A watch that will touch connoisseurs because it is a rare model, with manual movement and a "Paris" dial, the secret signature of the House indicating Parisian manufacturing.

Thanks to its white dial, it can be combined with the strap color of your choice, according to tastes and seasons, paired with a Cartier gold folding clasp.

 How to wear it?

This Tank Reverso, beyond its own style, is truly perfect in all circumstances. A watch that we enjoy wearing, looking at and passing on. It is particularly suitable for everyday life, perfect for work as well as in the evening because it can be both casual and elegant.

Why did Françoise choose it?

The Tank Reverso is truly rare. It most likely dates from the 1970s, straight out of the Parisian Cartier workshops.

This is a watch that we can only recommend. It is essential, both from a historical and stylistic point of view. A watch that will never lose its value, especially with a manual movement and the mention of "Paris". It is par excellence the watch that we take pleasure in passing on, a piece that combines technique and aesthetics: functionality, elegance and prowess are essential.

History

It was in 1917 that the Tank watch, known as Normale, appeared in honor of the heroes of the First World War and whose design was inspired by the first tanks. Five years later, the Tank Louis Cartier was designed, a model very similar to the first but with a more elongated dial and thinner and more rounded stretchers. Several generations followed one another, retaining the same identity codes but adapting to new watchmaking technologies such as quartz. Many celebrities have adopted it, such as Jackie Kennedy, Lady Diana, Alain Delon, Catherine Deneuve, Yves Saint-Laurent, Gary Cooper, Johnny Hallyday and Sophia Coppola, to name a few. Will you be the next one?

In the 1930s, Cartier (then very close to Jaeger, which launched its legendary Reverso in 1931) offered its own reversible watch for a few years: the very rare Cabriolet Basculante. This model later became the Tank Basculante, which turns "on top". In the 1970s, this Tank Reverso was produced for a few short years, which turns "on the side", like the founder of reversible watches designed by Jaeger.
