Inspired by the Chaîne d'Ancre bracelet, the Cape Cod from Hermès has made its place within the collections and became a must-have, recognizable at a glance but not flashy. A singular shape, a square case inscribed in a rounded shape which gives it an Art Deco look.
Its Arabic numerals, following the lines of the case, take up the world of saddlery and the emblematic Hermès patterns. A particularly coherent watch in its design.
Made of steel, it is an everyday watch, practical thanks to its quartz movement.

Like the Maison Hermès, it embodies “French elegance”. Françoise have to present it in her selection. Hermès is a benchmark for luxury and savoir-faire: scarves, leather goods, watches.
The Cape Cod is a model that Françoise particularly likes because its design is one of the most discreet in the Hermès collections: it is not as explicit as others, which gives it elegance and more refinement.
History
The Maison Hermès was born in 1857 but it was not until 1912 that the first watch was designed in the workshops of Emile Hermès. A watch given to his 9 year old daughter which already combined leather with the case.
The Cape Cod model was created in 1991 by Henri d'Origny, then Artistic Director of the Maison, in collaboration with Vaucher. Eight years later, Martin Margiela, in charge of the ready-to-wear line at Hermès, gave it a new double wrap bracelet. A watch that becomes a fashion accessory, one that you associate with your outfit and for which the bracelet has a particular importance. Even today, the Cape Cod is still as popular as ever and has established itself, through different versions, as the essential for women's wrists, certainly, but also men's.
