Description
Piaget's reputation in watchmaking is well established. Referred to as the "jeweler of watchmaking," Piaget embodies creativity and reliability. A piece as unique with its octagonal gold case as it is comfortable and light to wear. The white mother-of-pearl dial of this Piaget 8341 offers magnificent pink and iridescent tones, dancing with the light. A color that echoes the gold of the hands. A watch, a piece of jewelry, or both?
The bright red strap is particularly well suited to the mother-of-pearl dial, although the latter would also be enhanced by an elegant contrast with a black strap.
How to wear it?
Even though Françoise admits that the extravagance of some pieces isn't always compatible with everyday wear, it's impossible to overlook Piaget creations. Watches like these are a reminder that the brand has managed to create simpler models while retaining the subtle complexity and originality that are the hallmarks of its workshops.
This Piaget watch, which combines gold and mother-of-pearl, is elegant and precious, yet could easily be worn every day. Perfect for your evenings out, it adds a touch of originality and elegance to your wrist. One thing for sure: it won't go unnoticed. It's up to you to break the mold by pairing it with jeans ! It retains an ideal format, discreet on the wrist, and a red alligator leather strap (added). In the 60s and 70s, Piaget wanted to break the codes and innovate with its watch designs: why not do the same in 2023?
Why did Françoise choose it?
It's no longer a secret: Françoise has a huge appreciation for the creations of Maison Piaget. Technique, know-how, design, history... all elements that Françoise wishes to promote. To give Piaget watches all the interest they deserve. While she would like to be able to wear the finery of the 1970s, cuffs, necklaces, and other wonders, Françoise also likes the more "simple" pieces. Despite everything, this is Piaget: the shapes and materials are therefore ambassadors of a delicate elegance tinged with a subtle extravagance.
This watch is a testament to Piaget's most creative era. It showcases watchmaking expertise in its ultra-thin mechanical movement and mastery of materials in the selection and craftsmanship of the hard stone dial. These rare dials give the model its character. Each stone is unique, and so is each watch. It is for all of these reasons that we chose it.
History
Between the end of the 1950s and the end of the 1970s, the Piaget style reached its peak. A highly creative period where gold, the only material used for watches from 1957 onwards, and colors harmonize. The dial becomes the main element of creation, the one towards which all eyes must be directed. Thus, the hard stone imposes itself, letting its lively palette of colors, its nuances, its reflections, its personality vibrate: lapis lazuli, jade, tiger's eye, coral, turquoise, onyx, opal, etc. A palette of bright and nuanced colors. Watches with clean lines letting the color speak. Jewelry watches described as "haute-couture creations" (Journal de Genève , April 15, 1970).
