Description
The Air King embodies all the characteristics that have built Rolex’s reputation, starting with the waterproof Oyster case, presented here in a perfectly balanced 34 mm size. Its easily adjustable steel bracelet and automatic movement make it both comfortable and practical to wear. Rarer than the classic silver dials, this anthracite grey dial is a true delight to admire. Depending on the light, it shifts from light grey to slate, and almost black… Not to mention the fluted bezel marked every five minutes, a more unusual detail, recognised only by true connoisseurs.
How to wear it?
However you like would be the best answer, as this Air King is the very definition of versatility. Just as at ease at the beach as in the office, it can be worn with jeans and a T-shirt as effortlessly as with a more formal outfit. If there is one watch suited to every occasion, this is it. History
The name Air King originates from the exploits of British pilots during the Second World War; in their honour, Rolex launched a collection that was both sporty and reliable. Reference 5500 cemented the success of the line, remaining in production for 37 consecutive years, as it defined what a Rolex should be: practical, automatic and waterproof, and effortlessly beautiful, with classic dials. Reference 14010 is a worthy heir to the 5500, a discreet icon that helped make Rolex the king of watchmakers, with a bezel that boldly asserts its independence.
