Comment réconcilier 2 mondes irréconciliables : ceux qui veulent une indication de date et ceux qui ne jurent pas la simplicité et la versatilité de l'Air King ? La Date ! Moins assumée que sa grande soeur la DateJust, la Date rassemble tout ce qu'on aime chez Rolex : robuste, pratique, étanche, automatique sans être tape-à-l'oeil ou trop imposante. Son très beau cadran noir profond souligne ce coté épuré, presque sage, mais sportif.
Comment la porter ?
Faut-il vraiment répondre ? Partout, tout le temps. Avec une chemise, un tee-shirt, une robe, un smoking, rien, un maillot de bain... Les seuls interdits : le sauna, le golf et le tennis, mais ils concernent toutes les montres à mouvement mécanique !
Pourquoi Françoise l’a-t-elle choisie ?
L'amour de Françoise pour les Rolex en 34mm n'est plus à expliquer (surtout à cadran clair) ! La Date reprend tout ce qu'on aime de l'Air King, et rajoute une date. Chacun peut se faire son avis (voir sa religion !) sur la nécessité ou non d'avoir une date, et donc le cyclope agrandissant, sur sa montre, mais chez Françoise, on aime !
Histoire
Sortie quelques années après la DateJust, la Date a d'emblée repris les codes les plus évidents de Rolex : une lunette lisse (le plus souvent, même s'il existe des Date avec des lunettes différentes), de l'acier robuste, un diamètre contenu et des cadrans simples et épurés. Bien sur, comme presque toujours chez Rolex, le cyclope agrandit la date pour plus de lisibilité. Au fil des années, et jusqu'en 2002, année de naissance de celle ci, nombreux ont été les ajustements techniques, sans rien toucher à l'ADN originel.
